We offer a workshop for Key Stage Two classes and their teachers based on an original story "Ugly One" by Liza Watts.

We are
Liza Watts, storyteller, actor and workshop leader
Kath Chalk, teacher, singer and storyteller

Together we are Annis.

We offer workshops for up to 45 Key Stage 2 children based on an original story "Ugly One" by Liza Watts. The story is about difference, inclusion and dealing with bullying. The session lasts for 2 hours. During the workshop children will be encouraged to take part in discussions, role-play and drama. They will be listening, speaking and telling. They will also be organising information and arguments and talking over difficulties, all within the safety of the story.

For a workshop we would need:-

  • A work space for up to 45 children and accompanying adults (allowing room to move into small groups when necessary)
  • Class teacher to be present at all times, plus, ideally, a second member of staff. Please feel free to send in any extra adults e.g. students and/or parent helpers. Adults will be expected to join in by helping small groups to explore and clarify their ideas.
  • It would be helpful if we could have a short break during the workshop. This will be after about an hour, but timings may vary and so may not fit in with the children's usual break time.

We will provide a precis of the workshop and suggestions for follow-up activities.
We would appreciate any written feedback from children and/or adults (preferably, at least some of it positive!) We like pictures too.
